This group brings together industry, education and training around the needs of London business across skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The Committee contributes to and informs LCCI’s policies, supports the Chamber in representing key challenges and opportunities, and shares best practice across these critical themes.

Aims and Objectives

The group works to preserve London’s role as a city for entrepreneurs, responds to the changing nature of work, and encourages collaboration across London’s business community. The Committee aims is to drive transformation, leverage opportunities for new ways of working, and strives to create an environment for innovative businesses to share their expertise for cross-sector learning.

Report: Ethnic Diversity in Business

Published May 2022

The report looks at the correlation between demographics of individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds and subsequent success in business and highlights the problems that ethnic minorities face accessing finance and procurement opportunities.

The Impact of Staff Shortages

BBC Interview | 5 April 2022

LCCI CEO Richard Burge spoke on BBC Radio London about the impact of staff shortages on businesses. He called for scientists to be featured more prominently again on television and for the reintroduction of free testing, identifying this as a crucial factor in learning to live with Covid.

Chief Executive of Be the Business, a not-for-profit organisation that is boosting productivity in the UK. Chair of the City & Guilds Industry Skills Board and the Institute of Coding’s Artificial Intelligence Governance Board.

Andre Burwood

Programme Director, BASE

Through her employment at Battersea Power Station Development Company she has have been able to influence the company’s apprenticeship agenda and sponsorship of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Apprenticeships.

Neil Coates

Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise and Employment, London South East Colleges

Passionate leader focussing on developing strong interdependent teams to enable innovation. Neil has a remit to drive the Group's Employer Engagement strategy, developing pathways into employment, including professional training opportunities to ensure employers have a central voice in the skills for their staff.

Linsey Cole

Director of Business Engagement, University of Westminster

Linsey leads Westminster’s work with business, industry and employers including student enterprise, short courses, apprenticeships and alumni relations. Prior to Westminster, she led award-winning enterprise education programmes to support students and graduates to develop their enterprise skills and start successful businesses.

Dr Mariana Dodourova

Head of Department, Management Leadership & Organisations, Faculty of Business & Law, Middlesex University

Mariana holds extensive academic and consultancy experience in supporting the realisation of business excellence. She has operated in senior positions in the HE sector and consulted blue chip companies to support ambitions for innovation and value creation through facilitating organisational change, cohesion and improvement.

Mark Essex

Director of Skills, People Consulting, KPMG

Mark helps places, businesses and government to develop strategies to improve their future skills gap. He analyses labour market trends, and translates their impacts on client’s business and operating models and advises on tactical and strategic options for clients facing skills shortages.

Kurt Hintz

Executive Principal, Capital City College Group

Kurt has worked in Further Education for over 20 years and has a long history of vocational and apprenticeship training delivery. Kurt has managed teaching and learning projects including the ETF Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) and Flexible Learning project in Cyber Security.

Ian Rabbidge

Founder and Managing Director, Alvio

Ian has 30 years experience launching startups and commercialising brands as diverse as Red Bull to P&O Ferries. During Covid lockdown he and his partners founded Alvio, the app that enables brands and retailers to collaborate and scale rapidly across the Shopify ecommerce platform.

Andrew Stonehouse

Founding partner and Creative Director, S2 Design and Advertising Ltd

Andy has over 30-years experience in the branding and graphic design industry. In his career he has developed strategic brand positioning and communications for a wide variety of organisations from international enterprises, NFPs and NGOs through to small start-ups.

Haarprit S Suri

Director, Suri London Properties Holdings Ltd

His business is residential & student accommodation in property sector. He is a Freeman at The World Traders company, City Livery, Chairman Park Royal Business Group, Board member Bridge India, Ealing Acton Business Club, Member of Council LCCI.

Jonathan Woodhead

Policy Adviser, Birkbeck, University of London

Policy Adviser at Birkbeck with responsibility for Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement. He has a broad experience in the Universities sector ranging from working for the main HE membership organisation, working for an MP in Parliament and holding strategic roles at two London universities.
