The Mayor of London’s Skills Academies supports Londoners get into careers and the capital’s long-term economic growth by helping Londoners to gain the skills they need to enter good work in the digital, green, health, hospitality and creative industries. Capital City College Group Academies is working with the Mayor of London and a range of businesses to produce these skills academies.

SOAS University of London and the Black British Initiative have announced the launch of a new “mini” Master of Business Administration course specifically designed to support underserved black entrepreneurs. The MBA 30 has been curated to provide black entrepreneurs with the necessary skills, knowledge, and networks to thrive in their respective industries.

Apprenticeships – a talent opportunity for your business

Apprenticeships are an exciting option for both apprentice and employer, and deliver great benefits, from improved staff retention and motivation to increased productivity. LCCI is pleased to support The London Progression Collaboration (LPC) on their mission to make sure low-paid Londoners can secure better-quality, and to make sure London’s businesses can develop the skills they need to thrive.

About apprenticeships

  • An apprenticeship is a paid job with structured formal training
  • Apprentices spend most of their time learning in the workplace by doing their job, with 20% of their time spent on ‘off-the-job’ training
  • Apprenticeship are available across a wide range of sectors and occupations, from digital and tech to care and construction
  • Apprentices can be any age, from 16 upwards
  • Apprenticeships can be used for new entrants to the workplace and to upskill existing members of staff
  • Paid as a regular employee with the same benefits, we recommend London Living Wage
  • Apprenticeships are available from level 2 (GCSE level) through to level 7 (masters level)

Local Skills Improvement Plan

LCCI is delighted to be working with BusinessLDN, Confederation of British Industry, Federation of Small Businesses and Mayor of London to deliver a London focused, local skills improvement plan (LSIP). The LSIP will play an role in tackling skills shortages by bringing a wide range of employers and educators together to ensure training matches the needs of London’s economy and local labour market needs.

London Quarterly Skills Survey

The London Skills Survey for Q3 2022 highlights the areas in which London businesses are experiencing skills shortages, as well as their projected needs for the future. The survey also considers the barriers businesses face in meeting their skills needs.
